Donald Michael Lawruk

Donald Michael Lawruk, 75, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2013. He was born November 20, 1937 to his late parents Magdaline (Gurna) and Antony Lawruk in Altoona, PA. He leaves behind his loving wife, Barbara A.(nee DeSoto), daughter Rebecca A. Blackson of Cortland, Oh; son Michael A. Lawruk of Las Vegas, NV; daughter Samantha L. Gullett of Jacksonville, FL; daughter Christina R. Poschner of Austintown, OH; 7 beloved grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind brothers Walter, Maurice, and Adam Lawruk; and sisters, Olga Romerowicz, Jennie Cramer, and Alice Hanna. Don was preceded in death by his daughter Michelle Moore, and his brothers Joseph and Raymond Lawruk. He spent most of his career as an automotive Tool and Die Maker. In 1997, he retired from General Motors, Lordstown, OH. Don was a member of St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in North Port, FL. He loved living in Florida, playing golf, woodworking, and helping his church and friends. Mostly, though, he loved his family. He will be deeply missed. Visitation will be held at Farley Funeral Home in North Port on Sunday, November 3, 2013 from 3:00-5:00PM with a Panachyda Service to follow. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church on Monday, November 4, 2013 at 9:30AM followed by interment at Venice Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family asks that gifts be made in his memory, to St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1078 N. Biscayne Drive, North Port, Florida 34287.
