Doris M. Hunter

Doris M. Hunter, 92, of Venice, FL, formerly of Vermont, passed away on June 17, 2017. Doris was born in Kewanee, IL on May 5, 1925 to Joseph and Hazel Maring. She graduated from Wester Illinois University in 1946, and married Freeman B. Hunter of Westbrook, ME in 1947, who predeceased her in 1989. Doris was Assistant Director at the University of Connecticut Hartford Branch for 25 years. She retired in Florida in 1984, and worked with Freeman in his accounting and tax business. Doris was also a member of Grace United Methodist Church and volunteered at Venice Hospital for many years. Survivors include her sister, Joyce Gibson, of Venice, FL; and brother-in-law Garland Reedy of Venice, FL. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, June 26th at 10AM at Grace United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Venice Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to TideWell Hospice, Inc., or to Grace Preschool in Venice.
