Douglas Glen VanHeerde passed away on April 11, 2018 in Venice, FL. Douglas was born on November 12, 1960 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Alvin and Wilma VanHeerde. He lived in Hager City, Wisconsin for 20 years before moving to Venice in 2017. During his career, Douglas worked as a handyman and a bartender. He was an avid gardener, a licensed massage therapist, and fluent in both French and Spanish. He enjoyed woodworking, sculpting, and had a passion for dancing.
Douglas leaves behind his sisters, Debra VanHeerde of Luverne, MN and Darla VanHeerde MD of Esko, MN; nieces and nephews Rika Snyder, Will (Andie) French, Jennifer (Scott) Preston; 4 great nephews, Will, Winston, Logan, and Leland; step granddaughters Gabrielle and Courtney Lillie of Gulf Shores, AL; and longtime friend Jaqueline Conniff. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin VanHeerde and Wilma Frease and nephew Ben Snyder.
Douglas made an honorable gift of his organs to the LifeLink Foundation upon his passing. There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday April 22nd at 1PM at Maxine Barritt Park 1800 Harbor Drive S. Venice, FL. Please visit www.farleyfuneralhome.com to leave a condolence message.
