On 11/25/1938 William Herbert Wood was the first born son of Dr. Herbert William Wood and Evelyn Elsa (Schulz) Wood in St. Cloud, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, James Wood and his first wife Barbara Lehman Wood. Dr. William Wood will be lovingly missed by his devoted wife, Judy Todd Wood; step children, Sonja, Renee and David; ""Grandchildren"" Amanda, Corey, Connor, Casey and Aiden; mother-in-law, Ila Hall; sister-in-law, Pat Gerchy; four nephews, John, Tom, Tim, James Gerchy and their families.
Bill passed away suddenly at his Venice, Florida home on January 21, 2015.
During school Bill was a member of the National Honor Society, Foreign Exchange student, lettered in football, Church choir and a scout.
In college he was a member of the Delta Tau Alpha Fraternity. After graduation, Bill advanced his education attending the University of Chiropractics in Chicago Illinois. Following graduation Dr. William Herbert Wood joined his father's practice in St. Cloud, MN. Upon his Father's retirement Dr. Bill took over the entire practice.
Dr. William Wood was a 23rd Degree Mason, on the Board of the Salvation Army, a benefactor for the Mayo Clinic, as well as the Shriner Children's Hospital.
He will forever be remembered for his honesty, integrity, humor, love of life and for mankind.
A visitation will be held at Farley Funeral Home in Venice on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 from 1:00-2:00PM with a service to immediately follow. Memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758541, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8541, Shriners Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Florida 33607 or to the Mayo Clinic, Memory of Dr. William Wood, 200 First Street SW., Rochester, Minnesota.
