Evelyn Fay Hamilton, beloved mother and grandmother, age 87, passed away May 10, 2016 at her Englewood home. Fay was born December 5, 1928 in Cleveland, Mississippi to Theodore and Mary Rose Magsig. Fay moved to Falls Church, Virginia as a child and graduated from Falls Church High School where she was voted Most Fashionable. She went on to become an executive secretary in various offices in the government, including the Pentagon.
She married Bryce W. Bernhardt in 1956 and they raised two sons, Terry and Clete. Upon retirement she and Bryce moved to Oregon where Bryce passed away in 2001. She then moved to Florida with her son Clete and his wife, Maria. She married Stuart Hamilton in 2003 and they spent their time traveling and doting on their grandchildren.
Fay is survived by her younger son, Clete Bernhardt, and three grandchildren, Shaun Bernhardt, and Mary Bryce and Rebecca Bernhardt. She was preceded in death by her son, Terry Bernhardt, and both husbands.
A memorial service will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Venice, Florida on June 11 at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charitable organization of one's choice.
