Francis Thomas Nugent

Francis T. Nugent was born in Whitinsville, Massachusetts on February 6, 1927 and passed away May 31, 2014 in Venice, Florida. He was 87 years old. He was the eldest of three children and proudly served in the Navy in World War II. Following his service he met the love of his life, Mildred C. Riley and they celebrated 59 years of marriage. Francis otherwise known as Frank received a BS in Pharmacy and Biology at Providence College and a Masters in Hospital Pharmacy Administration at Northeastern University. He later became a Medical Sciences Liaison for The UpJohn Company and was instrumental in getting Scope monographs written by doctors who were experts in their fields to help educate students specializing in medicine. Frank served as the liaison between doctors, students and the many colleges and universities he visited as a representative of The UpJohn Company. Frank and Millie had three children; Damian, Tom and Kathleen. Frank and Millie initially lived in Boston, Massachusetts and later lived in Augusta, Maine , Hampton, New Hampshire , Chatham, Massachusetts and finally in Venice, Florida where Frank was in love with the Floridian sunshine and climate. Frank was a loving husband and father and a proud grandfather. He was a very creative individual. He was a pilot, a pharmacist, a medical science liaison, a self made interior designer and above all else a tinkerer. He humbly described himself as “a Jack of all Trades and a master of none.” He was most comfortable in taking on home improvement projects which gave him immeasurable satisfaction and pride. He is survived by his sister Jane and her family, his son Thomas F. Nugent, his wife Betti and their children Jennifer and Kristi and his daughter Kathleen A. Nugent-Harris, her husband Charles and their daughter Melanie. Graveside funeral services with honors will be held 10:30am Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Sarasota National Cemetery.
