Gary Guerin

Gary L. Guerin, age 72, of Venice, FL and Madison, WI passed away unexpectedly at his home in Venice on Monday, January 30, 2017. He was born March 14, 1944 in Ft Dodge, IA to Merle and Lois (Schroeder) Guerin. Gary grew up in Spirit Lake, IA where he graduated in 1962 and married Cinda (Albers) in 1965. He graduated from Northeast Missouri State College in 1967 with a BA in education. Gary began teaching social studies in Johnson Creek, WI and coached football, wrestling, and track. He earned his Master's Degree at the University of Wisconsin - Madison in 1987 and became the principal at Iowa Grant High School in Livingston, WI, retiring in 1999. He had many passions. He enjoyed watching the Badgers and the Packers, but most of all he loved watching his girls and grandkids play in all of their sports. He loved to read by the gulf shore, travel, golf, and especially spend time with family and friends. He and Cinda have spent the last 15 winters in Venice, FL enjoying the sun and sand, and going back to Madison, WI for the summers. He is survived by his beloved wife and high school sweetheart, Cinda; daughters Kerrie and husband David Wolf of Johnson Creek, WI and Kali King of Athens, GA; grandchildren Christopher Wolf (Monica Mansavage) of Sullivan, WI, Natilee Wolf of Johnson Creek, WI, and Seaver King of Athens, GA; sister Jan Beyers (Gene) of Cuba, MO; nieces Kelly Sipe (George) of Frederick, MD and Lesa Ament (Brad) of Cedar Rapids, IA; sister-in-law Julie Albers Nash (Chuck) of Omaha, NE; niece Kaci Nash of Lincoln, NE and nephews David Nash (Anita) of Missoula, MT, and Brian Nash (Starette) of Mitchell, SD. Gary touched the lives of so many people, and while his family is shocked and saddened at his passing, we are renewed in the knowledge of a legacy of impacting and influencing the lives of hundreds of students. We will always remember his wit and robust laugh. He will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends in Venice and Wisconsin. A Celebration of Life was held at Bird Bay Village February 2 and there will be another in Wisconsin this summer.
