Gregory Scott "Scott" Souder
Jun 6, 1969 — Jan 15, 2016
Gregory ""Scott"" Souder, 46, of NorthPort, took the hand of Jesus and entered into his Eternal Heavenly home January 15, 2016. He was born in Columbus, OH, June 6, 1969. Formerly of Junction City, OH, and Mt. Morris/Clio, MI, Scott attended ElmerKnopfLearningCenter in Flint. He worked at Serendipity Store in Clio, was a member of Mt.MorrisUnitedBrethrenChurch. He moved to NorthPort in 2002 with his parents, attended LovelandCenter and is a member of SuncoastBaptistChurch.
He is survived by his parents, John & Connie Souder; sister, Carla (Rod) Pawich; niece, Tamara Pawich (Will); nephew, Derek Pawich; great niece Logan, many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Scott had a contagious smile and infectious laugh that quickly spread throughout a room. He loved animals, especially dogs. He participated in many sports: floor hockey, skiing (which the family later discovered was actually snowshoeing) volleyball, and his favorites, basketball, bowling, and swimming. He enjoyed ""hot doggie roasts"" in the cool fall air of Ohio and Michigan. He eagerly anticipated any party, wedding or dance to which he was invited!
Once he met you, he loved you, and people couldn't help but love him in return. He was a comic, a teaser, and a prankster. With Downs Syndrome, he spoke few words, but taught the people around him to see beyond the outward appearance, to love unconditionally, and to participate in, and enjoy life to its fullest! Scott will be sorely missed by anyone and everyone who truly knew him.
Visitation will be from 2:00 until 8:00pm today at the funeral home. Scott's life will be celebrated at 11:00 am Wednesday at SuncoastBaptistChurch in Port Charlotte, with interment following in Royal Palm Memorial Gardens in Punta Gorda.
