Hannah W. Moore

Mar 23, 1939 — Feb 17, 2017

Hannah White Moore, 77, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2017. She was born in High Point, NC on March 23, 1939 to the late Henry George White and Margaret Etheredge White. She was raised in Norfolk, VA, and graduated from Granby High School in 1957, where she was active with Y-Teens, cheerleading, chorus, and the Glow Worms group with whom she remained lifelong friends. She earned a B.A. Degree in Secondary Education from Longwood College, was President of the H2O Club and a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She lived in Virginia Beach, VA until she moved to Williamsburg, VA where she lived for many years, working for Colonial Williamsburg and attending her beloved Bruton Parish Episcopal Church. She later moved back to Virginia Beach and then to Venice, FL to be near her daughter. She had great spirit, loved God, her family, friends and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a stickler for having polished silver and a nice arrangement on the table. Known to be an early bird, she enjoyed music, art and fresh flowers. She left a lasting impression and will be missed by many. She is survived by three children John Kelly Moore Jr and his wife Elizabeth Reed of Virginia Beach, Michael Etheredge Moore and his wife Elizabeth Gomez of Virginia Beach, and Catherine Barry Moore Zahnd and her husband Rolf of Venice, FL; and six grandchildren Catherine Grace Zahnd, Mason Etheredge Moore, Cole White Moore, Drew Watson Moore, Rachel Kelly Moore, Lucy Elinore Zahnd; and siblings Margaret White Crooks, Dr. Henry George White, Jr. and his wife Fran, and Joanne White Evans and husband Barry; and nine nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the many special people who supported and corresponded with Hannah over the years. She continued to mention these relationships throughout her life. Family will receive friends on Saturday, February 25th from 3 to 5 pm at her sister Peggy’s home. Interment will be at Bruton Parish Church at a later date. Condolences may be left at Farley Funeral Home (www.farleyfuneralhome.com). In lieu of flowers, please make desired contributions to Bruton Parish Episcopal Church, (www.brutonparish.org) P.O Box 3520, Williamsburg, VA 23187. Farley Funeral Home in Venice is handling the arrangements.
