Henry Albert Berten

Henry Albert Berten, 84, of Venice, FL, formerly of Durham, CT, died Sunday, March 25, 2012 with family at his side. Henry (Bud), was born August 23, 1927 in Middletown, CT, but was a life-long resident of Durham, CT after many years of hard work, retired from the family dairy farm. He was predeceased by his parents, Henry Adolph Berten, Bernice Brock Berten and his wife of 53 years, Patricia Anne Merriam Berten. Remaining family to mourn him include: his sister, Janet Berten Arcand (Lionel), brother, Roger Dale Berten (Marjorie); children, R. Kim Berten (Susan), Cynthia Berten Blackwelder (Albert), Claire Denise Berten, Catherine Elaine Berten Gutch (David); grandchildren, Kasey Blackwelder Abbe (Robert), (DJ)David Jonathan Gutch, Jaimie Michelle Gutch and Connor Henry Gutch; additional brother and sister in-laws, grown nieces, nephews and cousins. Bud continued his care and love of animals in FL as an active member and volunteer with Suncoast Humane Society Pet Therapy Team. Bud and his wonderful, Delta registered pet therapy dog, Kramer, served by visiting nursing homes, reading with children in libraries and schools and doing humane education.
