Herbert T. Sweeney, Jr., 86, of Venice, FL, formerly of West Chester, PA, died on September 16, 2013. Herbert was a veteran of the US Army Air Corps and was the co-founder of H.T. Sweeney & Son Inc., a site work construction company in Brookhaven, PA, which was started in 1947. He retired to Florida in 1994. He enjoyed playing golf, wild life, and his puppies. He was also a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and Waterford Country Club.
Survivors include his wife, Denise, of Venice, FL; sons, Herbert T. Sweeney III and his wife Kathryn of Spring City, PA and Glenn Scott Sweeney, Sr. and his wife Cheryl of Chase City, VA; step-daughter Barbara Gornto of Satellite Beach, FL; five grandchildren, Herbert IV, Kelly, Melissa, Kara, and Glenn Jr.; two step-grandchildren, Allison and Dylan; four great grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley Shinn. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Alice, in 2003 and by a sister, Geraldine Massey.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 28th at 2PM at Emmanuel Lutheran Church with a reception to follow in Fellowship Hall for family and friends.
