Imelda Hake "Mel" Schwertman

Imelda ""Mel "" Hake Schwertman, 90, of Venice, FL, formerly of Closter, NJ and Weston, CT, passed away on July 18, 2017. Mel was born on May 3, 1927 to Frederick and Marguerite Hake. She was a homemaker and moved to the area in 1986. She loved gardening and painting. Survivors include her children, Amy Schwertman Buckley of Venice, FL; Sally Schwertman (Phillip) Nikolis of South Huntington, NY; Elizabeth Schwertman (Mack) McCune of Frederick, MD; Suzanne Schwertman of Frederick, MD; Daniel J. Schwertman, Jr. of Englewood, FL; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her brother Walter (Theresa) Hake of Venice, FL. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
