Irma "Oma" Doerner

Jan 20, 1928 — Dec 1, 2017

Irma ""Oma"" Doerner, 89, of Nokomis, FL, formerly of Germany, passed away on December 1, 2017. Irma was born on January 20, 1928 in Germany, and came to the US with her husband, Karl, and only son, Peter, in 1959 on original Queen Elizabeth Cruise Ship. She proudly became a USA Naturalized citizen. She lived in Marlboro and Holmdel, NJ, before moving to Nokomis, FL in 2006 upon retirement from her position at GuttenPlans Bakery. She worked as Partner and CFO in GuttenPlans Bakery Company in Long Branch, NJ, retiring in 2005. Irma was preceded in death by her husband, Karl, in 2004. She is survived by her only child, Peter (Barbara) Doerner; grandchildren, Kimberly, Beth, Ellen, and Brian; and great grandchildren Ashley, Skylar, Aiden, William, Nicholas, Brittney, and Matthew. Irma was known for her love of family. She always enjoyed a good laugh and a smile, and loved decorating for the seasons, especially Christmas. She worked very hard in her life to accomplish all that the opportunity of being an American could provide. She was proud of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to the American Heart Association would be most welcome in Irma's honor. A private memorial service will be held at Farley Funeral Home with internment taking place in New Jersey.
