James C. Lefavor

James C. LeFavor, age 82, of Nokomis, FL, passed away on January 1, 2017. He was born in Athens, OH on June 19, 1934 to Carroll and Sarah LeFavor. Jim lived most of his life in the Chicago, IL area. He worked for Sears Roebuck & Co for thirty-four years; twenty-three of which were in Chicago, mostly at the national headquarters while eleven years were in the New York buying offices in Manhattan. After retiring from Sears, Jim ran his own successful sales rep company, J & L Marketing, for 12 years. Jim was a US Army veteran who served during the Korean War and was stationed as a photographer at SHAPE Headquarters in Paris. Jim and Linda were active members of Grace United Methodist Church in Naperville IL before retiring to Florida in 2002. He was an avid golfer who also enjoyed hunting, scuba diving, country-western dancing, and especially cooking for family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Linda LeFavor of Nokomis, FL; daughters Michelle Bliss (Richard) of Pensacola, FL; Donna Hartman (Gene) of Pinckney, MI; son James LeFavor (Jennifer) of Mashpee, MA; first wife Joan LeFavor; seven grandchildren Ryan (Summer), Ashley (Bobby), Bobby, Cayla, Kyle, Colleen, and Tommy; three great-grandchildren Kaylee, Spencer, and Alayna, sister-in-law Joanne Nelson of Rolla, MO, plus numerous nieces and nephews. Services will take place on March 10, 2017, at Sarasota National Cemetery. Details to follow. Memorial donations can be made to TideWell Hospice or the Wounded Warrior Project.
