James S. Sasser

Oct 16, 1984 — Sep 13, 2016

James Satterfield Sasser, age 31, passed away on September 13, 2016. James was born on October 16, 1984, in Jackson, MS, to David and Nina Sasser. James was an avid sports fan. He loved watching the Auburn Tigers, Tampa Bay Bucs and Rays, and the Cleveland Cavaliers. He enjoyed listening to reggae music, especially Bob Marley and Soja. He loved teaming with his brothers to make fun of their Pops – “Damn it Jim…” He made many lifelong friends through his journey in life doing what he loved as a bartender. Salty, as he was known to those close to him, was a rock for people whenever they needed him for whatever reason. He had a heart of gold and would give the shirt off his back to help anyone. As Kya said, “Daddy was a giver.” And more than anything he loved spending time with his daughter. He is survived by his former wife, Kristen Carson of Sarasota, FL; daughter Kya Sasser of Sarasota, FL; mom, Nina Sasser of Pearl, MS; Pops, David Sasser of Little River, SC; brother Chris Sasser (Laura) of Chicago, IL; brother Jordan Sasser of Pearl, MS; nieces Drew Marie and Riley Sasser of Chicago, IL; and numerous extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter Brianna; grandparents Zeke and Irene Sasser; and grandparents Art and Milma Wiselogel, former father in law, Joseph Carson who he had a special relationship with. There will be a celebration of his life and private ceremony for his burial. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the GoFundMe account set up in James Sasser’s name benefitting Kya. Farley Funeral Home in Venice is handling the arrangements.
