Jane Lang

Jane Lang, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away at the age of 78, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, integrity, and kindness.

Born in Albany, New York, to Ray and Ann MacDonald, Jane was one of three children. Her happiest childhood memories were made at Ashmere Lake, where summers were filled with family, friends, waterskiing, fishing, and canoeing. While she was the first to admit that athletics were never her greatest strength, she proudly played Lassie League softball, mostly because it meant spending time with her baseball-loving father, who coached the team.

Jane attended SUNY Potsdam, where she studied Anthropology. In a twist of fate, she met the love of her life, Roger Lang, in New York City, despite the fact that they had grown up only a few miles apart. They married in 1971 and recently celebrated an extraordinary 55 years of marriage—a testament to a partnership built on love, friendship, and unwavering devotion.

Together, Jane and Roger raised two daughters and, in 1986, made Boca Raton, Florida, their home. Jane enjoyed a successful career in wealth management before retiring to embrace the many things she loved most.

Jane found joy in life's simple pleasures. She was a gifted crafter, an avid reader with an endless curiosity that spanned every genre, and a devoted fan of British television. She was also a lifelong, champion shopper who firmly believed in the restorative power of retail therapy. After retirement, she became an enthusiastic theatergoer, treasured time spent with her many friends, and embraced one of her favorite pastimes—trivia. From spirited games of Trivial Pursuit in the 1980s to competing in her Bay Indies community and hosting a weekly trivia game at Norma Jean's in Venice, Jane's quick wit and love of learning brought people together and kept everyone on their toes.

More than anything, Jane was a woman of deep conviction and unwavering integrity. Passionate about social justice, she believed in standing up for what was right, even when it wasn't easy. She approached the world with compassion, intelligence, and courage, inspiring those around her to do the same.

Jane's greatest pride was her family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Roger; her daughters, Elizabeth Thomas and Kate Bass; her son-in-law, Renato Bass; her grandchildren, Maddison, Macee, and Tyler (Marie DelRosario); her cherished great-grandson, Beckett; her brother, Raymond; her sister, Joanne; and many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

Jane will be remembered for her sharp mind, generous heart, infectious sense of humor, fierce sense of justice, and her remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome. Whether she was recommending a good book, dominating a trivia game, finding the perfect bargain, or sharing a laugh with family and friends, she made ordinary moments extraordinary.

Her love will continue to live on in the countless lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A funeral mass will be held on August 3rd, 10am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with a reception immediately following at Norma Jean's restaurant in Venice, FL.
