Janet A Young
May 31, 1935 — Aug 30, 2026
Janet Allen Young
Janet Allen Young, 91, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026, in Venice, Florida. She was born on May 31, 1935, in Englewood, New Jersey, to Peter Joseph Allen and Grace Bell.
Janet moved to Wethersfield Bow Vermont, when she was 14. She graduated from Windsor High School, Class of 1953. Janet married the love of her life, Richard Young, in Springfield, Vermont on April 16, 1955. They shared 63 years of marriage and built a beautiful life together, filled with family, travel, and cherished memories. Richard passed away in 2019. Together, they had a home in Springfield, Vermont where they raised their 3 children. They also had a home in Venice, Florida, for more than 30 years, where they spent their winters as well as a home in Maine where they spent summers for many years. She generously volunteered her time at Hanson Court Nursing Home in Springfield.
She was a kind, caring, and vibrant woman who was full of life. She found joy in the simple things—gardening, baking, traveling with her family, walking, biking and spending time at the beach. She took great pride in her home, caring for it both inside and out, and creating a warm and welcoming place for her family.
She cherished her family and took great pride in being a grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Debi, and her son, Jay Young; six grandchildren, Allison Edwards, Elizabeth Murray, Tyler Young, Kyle Young, Alex Young, and Dakota Young; and two great-grandsons, Ryder and Paxton Edwards. She was preceded in death by her son, Keith Young, and her son-in-law, David Murray.
Janet also adored her beloved dog, Bentley, who had been faithfully by her side for the past seven years.
Janet will be remembered for her kindness, caring heart, infectious laugh, sassy personality, and the love and happiness she brought to her family. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
