Janice Yvonne Lappin, formerly known as Janice Yvonne Truex, born on September 21, 1939,

in Circleville, Ohio, passed away on May 7, 2026 in Sarasota, Florida. She was 86 years old.

A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Janice’s legacy is

marked by her endless dedication to family, church, and education. Her 50+ years in the school

systems of Ohio and Florida didn’t end when she retired. She consistently substitute taught on

a weekly basis making herself available whenever she was needed.

Janice was preceded in death by her husband, David Ray Lappin, and her parents, Reverend

C. Melvin Truex and Mary Lee Truex.

Janice is survived by her siblings, Reverend E. Melvin Truex, Sonja L. Barnwell, Daniel S.

Truex, Truman B. Truex; daughters, Tracie Blitch, Stacie Noordeloos, Tricia Mangrum, and

Stephanie Lappin; her grandchildren, David Calhoun, Jessica Dorrell, Joshua Calhoun, Hunter

Mangrum, Amber Bennett, and Noah Mangrum; her great grandchildren Sarah and Brandon

Dorrell, Amithia Calhoun, and Ella Mangrum.

Janice will be long remembered for her contributions to her church, her school, and her family.

She has touched countless lives during her career in education; teaching generations of

students. She provided her time every Sunday to the children's church at Venice Church of the

Nazarene. She volunteered to make countless pies over the years for the church pie auction to

raise money for the youth group. A life dedicated to her children, her family, inspiring others and

pointing them toward Christ are the greatest gifts she gave. A beautiful and profound legacy she

leaves behind.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Janice Lappin will be at 3:00 pm, June 14, 2026 at

Venice Church of the Nazarene,1535 E. Venice Ave. Venice, Fl. 34292
