Jean Thode, age 79, of Englewood, FL, passed away peacefully after a brief illness. She was born and raised in Lancaster, PA and a graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School but called Englewood her home for 40 years. Jean was pre-deceased by her parents, Gregory L. and Dorothy M. Nicklaus. She was also predeceased by her husband of 35 years, Henry F. ""Hank"" Thode Jr. Hank was truly her soul mate and the love of her life. The life these two spent together was truly a match made in heaven. Jean was also pre-deceased by her stepson Henry F. Thode, III. Jean is survived by her son, Mark R Dunlevy (Elizabeth Kays) of Nags Head, NC; stepdaughter, Libby Thode of Lancaster, PA, and step-grandchildren Morgan Fitzpatrick of Nags Head, NC; Adam Thode of Lancaster, PA and Amber Thode of Lancaster, PA. She is also survived by sisters and brother, Eleanor Cassidy, Paul Nicklaus (Phyllis), MaryAnne Hanley, Dorothy Fritsch (Daniel) and Sue Krushinsky (Harry) all from Lancaster, PA. In addition, she leaves numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Jean was the ultimate wife, mother and friend. Jean is, again, united with her husband and looking over her friends and family.
A mass for Jean will be held at 1 pm on January 21 at St. Leo's Church in Lancaster, PA. Inurnment will be held at a future date with a location to be determined.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tidewell Hospice, Englewood, FL (www.givetotidewell.org), The Abigail L. Longenecker Memorial Foundation, Lancaster, PA (www.abbysfoundation.org) or the charity of one's choice in Jean's name.
