Joan L. Emmons, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend departed this life peacefully to be with her Lord on February 28, 2016 in Venice, Florida. Joan was born the youngest of three children on September 27, 1928, in Grand Ledge, Michigan to Eula (Green) and Lyle Goodsell. She graduated from Grand Ledge High School, and worked 29 years in the Grand Ledge school system. She and her husband, Duane, raised five children, and retired to Six Lakes, Michigan and Venice, Florida.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband of almost 63 years, Duane Emmons. She was also preceded in death by her brother and sister: Duane Goodsell, Verene Ross; sisters-in-law: Doris Goodsell, Otha Sleight, Eleanor Christy, Marilyn Lazeroff; brothers-in-law: George Lazeroff, Spencer Sleight, Robert Crumb and William Mateer.
Joan is survived by her children: Diane (Richard) Lewis, Debbie (Chris) Bowen, Denice (Jim) Beckwith, Danette (Bob) Ward, David (Barbara) Emmons; Six grandchildren: Stacey Bowen, Mellissa (Brian) Tort, Cameron (Janelle) Bowen, Stephanie (Erik) Elliott, Rob (Sara) Ward, Amy (Phil) Wright and; twelve great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law: Norma Mateer and Elaine Crumb; brothers-in-law: Donald Christy and Jack Ross; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.
Joan was a woman of many exceptional talents and interests. She especially enjoyed home decorating, needle art, and creating beautiful flower gardens. In Florida, she enjoyed swimming with her friends in the pool at Harbor Lights. She also enjoyed spending time with her family at âThe Cottage' in Six Lakes. Joan will be greatly missed and remembered for her warm heart, and love of family and friends.

Celebration of Joan's life will be held at 4 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Hawk Hollow Club House, 15101 Chandler Rd, Bath, Michigan 48808.
