John H. Banacos, 76, of Nokomis, formerly of Massachusetts went home on November 4, 2015. He served his country in the U.S. Army, being called upon to serve again during the Cuban Missile Crisis. John was a ""real character,"" he had a wonderful heart, he was kind to all people, and he was a wonderful husband and father. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. John is survived by Denise, his beloved wife of 30 years, loving children Linda (Theo) Mitropoulos of Reading, MA, John (Elaine) Banacos of Mesa, AZ, Frank (Lisa) Banacos of North Andover, MA, & Judith (Michael) Richards of Nokomis, FL, stepchildren John, Mark, & Richard Ferreira, precious grandchildren John, Arianna, Holly, Daniel, Maria, Kiko, Stephen, Natalie, Kate, Lisa, & Paul, dear sisters Barbara (Ivan) Sullivan, Joan Betty, & brother Bob Banacos. John's life will be celebrated at 10:00 am at Victory Baptist Church, 261 S. Tamiami Trail, Nokomis, on Saturday, November 14th. He will be laid to rest in Sarasota National Cemetery at a later date.
