John R. Davis

John R. Davis passed away October 19, 2015 in Venice, FL at the age of 67. He was born October 25, 1947 in Elmer, NJ to Peggy (Fine) and J.N. Davis. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers: James G. and Charles D. Davis. Survivors include his two sisters, Ginger (Steve) Gambaro and Linda (Carl) Kruedelbach of Venice, FL and brother, Robert Davis (Judy Brown) and 7 nieces and nephews. He attended Vineland High School, Vineland NJ and was a proud graduate of Penn State University. After graduation, he served many years as an Agriculture Officer for the USDA. A decorated Vietnam War vet, he served with the United States Marine Corps and was awarded the Presidential Unit citation for ""Extraordinary heroism to the Combined Action Program Units III Marine Amphibious Force"". He was also awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Purple Heart and National Defense Service Medal. He was an avid reader of history, a gardener extraordinaire and a true beer enthusiast. He was a hero for his country, a steadfast friend to many and appreciated for his wit, intellect, kindness, and loyalty. He is loved by many and will be so very missed.
