Jack DeNert

DeNert, John (Jack) Lee, age 89, passed away peacefully July 20, 2026, at home with his beloved wife and best friend by his side.  Jack was born in Shabbona, IL.  In his early career Jack worked for SealMaster Ball Bearings where he enjoyed playing fast pitch softball for the company team.  Later Jack's career would lead him to Flexsteel Furniture where he enjoyed a long and successful career as a manufacturers rep.  He was the consummate sports enthusiast - both as a spectator and participant.  He enjoyed baseball, golf, pickleball and riding his bike.  And never in his lifetime did he believe he'd see his cherished Cubs win the World Series (2016) but miracles happen.  Blessed with a knack for conversation, Jack was quick to make friends and always able to place a name with a face - a rare gift.  He was preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, Joe and Marge DeNert and Harold and Emma Bend, brothers-in-law Bob and Steve Bend and his faithful dog Wrigley.  Jack is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ema Lou, his daughter Lori (Diane Lucas), son Jeff, sister Hope (Rick) Arundale, brothers and sisters-in-law Bill and Bonnie Mullins, Dave and Carol Bend, Greg Ashley and Sharon Bend, his sweet dog Beni and many nieces and nephews.  A private service will be held at a later date.  Memorials preferred to be used for a bench in Jack's honor at South Brohard Beach Paw Park, Venice, FL.
