John P. Gonsalves Obituary 11/20/1957 – 1/8/2026
John P. Gonsalves passed away peacefully on January 8th at his home in Florida after a brief battle with cancer. He was 68.John was born in Easton, Ma where he was the son to the late Ololia C. “Lolie” (Correia) Gonsalves and John Gonsalves. John grew up in Easton, Ma where he graduated from Oliver Ames. He then spent the majority of his adult life in Raynham and Carver, Ma before relocating and enjoying his retirement in southwest Florida. John was a longtime employee of Butler Automatic in Middleborough, Ma as a Purchasing manager. John was a three-sport athlete at Oliver Ames High school, where he was a member of their dominant basketball teams in the 70s. After graduating he attended the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth where he played collegiate baseball as an infielder. He later went on to finish his competitive playing career for the Easton Huskies of the Cranberry Baseball League. John was also an enthusiastic basketball and baseball coach. His coaching career spanned over 5 decades. Over the years he coached thousands of athletes from varies different programs and leagues. He coached at the high school level for Oliver Ames and Coyle Cassidy in the 90s-00s. John was also an Amateur baseball scout for the Seattle Mariners professional baseball organization.John was an avid golfer who enjoyed many rounds with his friends and family. He also enjoyed various local golf tournaments at his favorite local clubs over the years. John was very sociable and made friends with anyone he came across. Many of those friends came from the golf courses, baseball fields, and basketball courts where he enjoyed spending his time. John leaves behind his beloved life partner Kim McKenney of Florida. He was married to the late Debra Lee Gonsalves. He is survived by his former wife Julia MacKay and their two Children: Jennifer Gonsalves and her children Nicholas and Noah Asiaf; Jeffrey Gonsalves and his wife Cindy Gonsalves along with their children Alexia and Caden Gonsalves. John also leaves behind four stepchildren and seven step grandchildren.
