Lt. John T. ""Bubba"" Griffin, 77, of Venice, Florida, formerly of Hingham & Quincy, MA, passed away from Mesothelioma at home surrounded by his family. Born 1938 to the late John T. Griffin and the late Jacqueline (Perucich) Griffin, John served in the National Guard as a young man for 5 years. He was employed by Bethlehem Steel Company as a pipe fitter in Quincy, MA. He became a Quincy Policeman in 1963 and transferred to the Quincy Fire Dept. in 1969 from where he retired. He was also a licensed barber and upon retirement fled the horrible New England weather with his wife for some sun in Venice, FL. He purchased the Arcade Barber Shop in downtown Venice and enjoyed it for 10 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jean M. (Ferraguto) Griffin; his two daughters, Diann Jacqueline Manley from Abington, MA and Denise I. Donnelly and her husband John of CA.; a brother, Lt. William A. Griffin, QFD (ret) and his friend Gail Rourke of Hull, MA. He also leaves behind two sister-in-laws, Ilene Selevitch and JoAnne Hacking and her husband Bob Hacking all of Venice; five grandsons, J.D. and Michael John Manley, Griffin, Jack and Ronan Donnelly and his two great-grandsons, Jayden and Hunter Arienti who were all his pride and joy and who lovingly referred to him as ""Bubba"". He also leaves behind many family and friends including firefighter ""brothers""
Graveside services will be private per his request. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice, Inc., 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Florida 34238 or to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 84062, Dallas, TX 75284-0692. We are especially grateful to the kind staff at Tidewell especially nurse Anne. Farley Funeral Home in Venice is handling the arrangements.
