John Irvin Henze
January 15, 1951 — April 18, 2026
John Irvin Henze, 75, of Venice, FL and formerly of Berea, OH passed away peacefully on Saturday April 18 in Venice. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kerry, who passed away in July 2025. He is survived by his sister Mary (John) Mura of Columbus, OH, brother Bill Henze of Lorain, OH, brother Pete (Pat) Henze of Kent, OH, a stepson Aaron Cass of Medina, OH and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
John was born January 15, 1951 in Berea, Ohio, to Elizabeth Spooner Henze and Irvin Henze Jr. John graduated from Berea High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served in Germany and Viet Nam. After that he went to work for a local electrician and began to learn that trade. He got his Ohio electrical license and eventually started his own company. He married Jan Cass and helped raise a son, Aaron. In 1998, he married Kerry Stafford of Berea. In 2004, John and Kerry moved to Venice FL. John worked for an electrical company there. He became well known in the two communities for his helpful nature as a handyman, especially after he retired. The couple was hospitable and welcomed family visitors. They enjoyed some traveling and summer visits to Kerry’s family vacation homes on Middle Bass Island, Lake Erie.
John was a lover of Pepsi, Oreos, and pizza - he was an animal lover and intrepid shark tooth fossil hunter. His quirky laugh, luscious locks, and kind smile will be etched in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
John and Kerry developed health problems, but continued their activities in the neighborhood. They enjoyed socializing with the neighbors, working puzzles, and activities at the clubhouse.
John will be missed by his siblings, family, friends and neighbors. He had an outgoing personality & enjoyed talking to everyone. May Kerry and John’s souls soar together in eternal peace, wherever they are, together again.
