John C. Jacobi Jr., 76 of Nokomis Florida passed away April 2, 2018. John was born in Port Jefferson, New York to John and Henrietta (Effland) Jacobi. He worked for the Town of Brookhaven as a Civil Engineer for 20+ years. John moved to Nokomis in 2003 from East Moriches, New York. John joined the Army as a young man and earned many medals and commendations. He was a veteran and served in Vietnam. He held an Expert Marksman Badge (M-14 Rifle), National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal. John was involved in many endeavors. He was a member of the Thi Epsilon Fraternity- National Honorary Civil Engineering, an active member of the Moriches Yacht Club on Long Island, New York. More recently, the R/C Fliers of Venice, and long time Board Member of the Falcon Trace at Calusa Lakes Neighbor Association. John is survived by his daughter Tara Jacobi, husband Chris Marra, and beloved grandson, Rocco Marra; mother, Henrietta Jacobi; his sisters Eleanor, and Sue and Mike Caruso, his nephews Mike and Chrissy Caruso, daughter April Caruso and Dan Caruso and Katie Silvestri. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Thursday, April 12 at Farley Funeral Home, Venice Chapel. Burial will take place at 2 PM, Friday, April 13 at Sarasota National Cemetery.
