John E. Salzano
Jan 11, 1932 — Apr 27, 2015
John E. Salzano, 83, of Venice, Fl passed away April 27, 2015. Born January 11, 1932 to Anthony and Sophie, in Newark NJ. Enlisting at only 17, John served in the US Air Force from 1949-1952 and was stationed in Texas, Kansas, Idaho, and California. He was the loving and devoted husband of Helen (Mazauskas) for 57 years, who preceded him in death in 2012. John worked on the loading docks and then as a terminal manager for various trucking firms while raising a family in Old Bridge, then in South River, NJ before moving to Venice Florida in 1988 to enjoy the good life.
Every Saturday for almost the next 20 years would find John at Nokomis Beach stretched out on his beach chair and taking his two dips into the Gulf. During the week he worked for ""The Last Straw"" in Venice where his specialty was installing Murphy beds.
John's television was permanently set to the TCM Channel as he loved watching old movies. He had a soft spot for tap dancer Eleanor Powell, enjoyed James Bond movies, and took great pride in his 1985 Lincoln Towne Car.
Anyone who met John commented that he was just the sweetest man who always had a smile. He was a wonderful dad who could fix anything but he just loved being a grandpa to Peter John Salzano, Andrew Salzano, Sophia Salzano, Talia Salzano, and Jake White.
He is survived by his sons John Charles Salzano, NY and Robert Salzano, NJ, his daughter Alice White of North Port Fl, his sister Helen Formato of Port Charlotte Fl, and seven great-grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his wife Helen, and his son Anthony, in 2012.
