Jose R. "Pepe" Martinez-Riera

Jose ""Pepe"" R. Martinez-Riera, age 61, of Venice, Florida passed on May 22, 2017. He was born on September 23, 1955 in Havana, Cuba. He grew up in Madrid, Spain for most of his life before moving to Sarasota, Florida. Jose is survived by his wife, Lisa A. Van Ullen of Venice; a son, Gabriel Martinez-Riera of Gainesville, Florida; a daughter, Raquel Martinez-Riera of Sarasota; two sisters, Malena Riera of New York and Patricia Martinez-Riera of Sarasota. Jose was preceded in death by his parents, Alice Marie & Jose Martinez-Riera and his sister, Alicia Gustafsson. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at St. Martha Catholic Church, 200 N. Orange Avenue in Sarasota. Farley Funeral Home in Venice is handling the arrangements.
