Joseph ""Joe"" Lehner, 80, succumbed to cancer at the Tidewell Hospice House surrounded by family members and friends on June 10, 2017 in Venice, FL. He was born November 20, 1936 to William J. and Laura A. (Bauer) Lehner in Columbus, OH. Survivors include his wife Phylis of 33 years and his children, son David (Saralynn) Lehner of Colorado Springs, CO, daughter Rebecca (Guy [late]) Benjamin of Niles, MI, son Gary (Bonnie) Lehner of Richwood, TX, son Christopher (Christina) Lehner of Oxnard, CA, son John (Jenny) Lehner of St. Joseph MI and daughter Annette Lehner of Kissimmee, FL., 7 grandchildren Bryan, Chelsey, Ricky, Nathan, Chris, Jacob and Noah, seven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Norma Carpenter and Mona Lehner, brothers Bernard Lehner, William Lehner and Francis Lehner. Joe served for six years combined, active and reserve, in the U.S. Navy. He participated in and/or lead activities within schools boards, high school band boosters, churches, Boy Scouts of America, homeowners associations, boating clubs, and other organizations during his lifetime. A viewing will be held on Friday, June, 16th at 10:00 AM followed by a memorial service at 11:30 AM at Lakeside Lutheran Church in Venice, FL. Memorial donations can be made to the Lakeside Lutheran Church Roof Fund in Venice, FL.
