Funeral services for June Wood, 74, a resident of Venice, will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at South Venice Christian Church, 2390 Seaboard Avenue, Venice, Florida 34293.
June passed away Sunday, August 11, 2013 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. June was born June 7, 1939 in Marietta, GA the daughter of the late Clem and Mary Ruth (Wheeler) Maner. June lived in Punta Gorda and Fort Myers as a child. She was united in marriage to Howard S. Wood on May 11, 1962 in Atlanta, GA. He preceded her in death on August 9, 2008. They enjoyed 46 wonderful years of marriage.
June received her degree from Lee University in Cleveland, TN. She worked in banking and spent several years helping people through hypnotherapy and counseling. She was an avid reader and enjoyed great books and sunsets at the North Jetty.
June is survived by daughter, Kristan Wood of Venice; son, Tracy and wife, Rebecca Wood of Chicago, IL; sister, JoAnn Parker of Punta Gorda; grandchildren, Sarah, Caroline and Tracy Howard Wood Jr. of Chicago, IL and several nieces and nephews.
June is preceded in death by her sister, Rachel Schlichting of Port Charlotte.
June was a devoted wife, loving mother, awesome grandmother and friend to many.
