Kathleen Floy Kitchen (Kathy) 52 years old, died in Tampa, Florida, Monday, June 25, 2012 at her residence. She was born on February 18, 1960 in Augsburg, Germany, to Anne and Lloyd F. Kitchen, MD. She was the youngest of six children. Kathy is preceded in death by her mother, Anne Patterson Kitchen, and her father, Lloyd F. Kitchen, MD. Kathy was survived by her three sisters, Sarah Kitchen Saturday (Jim) of Sylacauga, AL, Becky Kitchen Anthony (Benny) of Union City, GA, and Pat Kitchen DeWald (Keith) of Evergreen, CO; three brothers, Rick Kitchen (Becky) of Kimberly, WI, Joe Kitchen of Key West FL, and Jim Miller (Val) of Venice, FL; her stepmother, Gayle Kitchen of Venice, FL.; and many nieces and nephews and a few great-nieces and great-nephews. She could name them all and tell you how old they were. She had a special memory for birth dates and numbers. Kathy lived in Germany, Texas, Virginia, and Florida; her father served in the army. She is most noted for being Dr. Kitchen’s daughter in Venice, FL. Venice was her home and she didn’t meet a stranger as she rode her bicycle up and down the roads. She loved to talk to different people and counted them as her friends. Kathy attended Epiphany Catholic School and Sarasota County schools. She worked at various businesses in Venice, Arcadia, Tampa, and Union City, GA. She also worked at Exceptional Industries, Inc. and Loveland Center in Venice and the MacDonald Training Center, Inc. in Tampa. Kathy was active many years with Special Olympics and was a Global Messenger for Special Olympics Florida. She loved to spend time with her family and friends and talk with them on the phone. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, June 30, 2012, at 11:00 AM at St. John Presbyterian Church, 4120 MacDill Avenue, Tampa, FL. The family would appreciate seeing anyone who could come to the service. Burial will be private at Gulf Pines Memorial Park in Englewood. Farley Funeral Home in Venice is handling the arrangements.
