Kathleen Ann Strammer

Kathleen A. Strammer (Kathy), aged 80, went home to the Lord on Wednesday August 12th at Tidewell Hospice House in Venice, Florida. She lived a full and meaningful life marked by the dedication to her family, service to her community and her radiant generosity.

She was born on June 25th, 1946, in Pittsfield Massachusetts to Helen Wallace (nèe Reilly) and Edward T Wallace. Kathy was the sixth of seven Wallace children.

Though she was born in western Massachusetts, she found true joy by the water. Upon moving to Venice in the early 1970s, she spent many happy years beachside and boating with loved ones.

It was in Venice that she met the love of her life. Kathy married Dr. Frederick L. Strammer in 1975 and they enjoyed 31 loving years together before he preceded her in death in 2006.

In addition to her parents and husband, Kathy was preceded in death by three older siblings, Helen “Ginger” (Wallace) Alletto, Dr. Edward Wallace Jr. and Thomas Wallace.

Kathy is survived by her sister, Abigail (Wallace) Groves, and her brothers Col. Terrance "Terry" Wallace (U.S. Army, Ret.) and Lt. Col. Christopher Wallace (U.S. Army, Ret.). She is also survived by her three children Kristin (Strammer) Mallia (John), Frederick L. Strammer Jr. (Cathy), and Eric E. Strammer (Sherry). She and Fred were blessed with nine grandchildren (Chanelle Strammer, Frederick Strammer, Kelly Purcell, Cathleen Monet Quinn, Teal Strammer, Travis Strammer, Amanda Mallia, Mary Elizabeth Mallia and Emma Mallia) as well as ten great grandchildren.

Kathy greeted everyone she met with open arms, and it was never long before strangers felt like family. She poured her time into the people she loved. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s extracurricular activities, traveled to see family near and far, and built a lifetime of memories with everyone she held dear. Trips to her beloved Maine with family and friends resulted in some of her most cherished lifetime memories.

She lived a life of service in the Venice area community. She enjoyed time with Southeastern Guide Dogs, Hospice, and Saint Mark’s Episcopal Church community dinners. She was also an active participant in the Venice Public School system and the Venice Public Library.

As we mourn the loss of our mother and “Nana”, we also celebrate the love, grace and compassion that were the essence of her being. Her presence will be dearly missed.

A celebration of her life will be held 10am, Saturday September 5, 2026, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Venice, Florida. Services will conclude at the church. No reception following.
