Kenneth E. "Ken" Helm
Apr 8, 1927 — Feb 10, 2015
Helm, Kenneth E. (Ken). Loving husband of Jinnie Helm (nee Conover), of North Port, Florida.
Ken went to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 10, 2015. Ken was born in Louisville, Kentucky to Joseph L. and Mary (Shuck) Helm in 1927. Ken was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War, serving in the Navy on ships in both wars. After military service, Ken worked for General Electric Co. for 35 + years. His work in the Jet Engine field took him and his wife to live in the Philippines (where their daughter Cindy was born), Australia and Japan. Upon return to the U.S. GE sent them to Florida for 5½ years (son Mike was born in Jacksonville). Ken closed out his career with GE in Evendale, OH, retiring in 1987. Ken took early retirement so that he & Jinnie could begin a series of Mission trips, traveling to China, Mexico, Venezuela, Cambodia, Thailand, Africa and Austria, where they served 20 years as long-term volunteers and once as short-term workers with TCM International Institute in Heiligenkreuz, Austria. In honor of Ken & Jinnie's many years of service with TCM, a scholarship fund in their name was established.
Ken is survived by his dear wife of 62 years, Jinnie; daughter Cindy (Fred) Gossman; and son Mike (Heidi) Helm. Ken was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, M. Lee Helm and Joseph R. Helm. Ken donated his body to medical research at Florida Gulf Coast University.
