Louis "Lou" Urban

Louis Urban, 78, of Port Charlotte, Florida died on February 13, 2014 after a prolonged illness. He was born August 1, 1935 in New York City to Catherine Hajla and Louis Urban, Sr., and raised in New York City. Lou served his country in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1958 during the Korean War. He met his wife Beverly in 1953 and they were married in 1958. They would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in May. Lou was a Heavy-Duty Mechanic and worked for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. He worked at the Holland Tunnel and John F. Kennedy Airport but most of his working years were spent at La Guardia Airport where he retired from in 1995. That same year, he and Beverly moved to Port Charlotte, Florida from Long Island, New York. Lou is survived by his wife, Beverly; daughters Marianne Reyes (Angel) of Mastic, New York and Lori Urban of Port Charlotte, Florida, and two sons, Louis Urban III of Mastic, New York and Joseph Urban (Diana) of North Port, Florida, and two grandchildren, Alexis Urban of Sarasota, Florida and Michael Urban of Port Charlotte, Florida. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, three brother in-laws, three sister in-laws and his beloved dog, Sabrina. A memorial service will be held this Saturday, February 22nd, at 1:00pm at Trinity Methodist Church, North Port, Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Lou's name may be sent to the Trinity Methodist Church in North Port, Florida, Tidewell Hospice House in Venice, Florida or the Suncoast Humane Society of Englewood, Florida.
