Loyal passed away peacefully and is home with the Lord. He was loved and admired by his family. Loyal leaves behind his loving wife of 62 years, Joyce; daughters, Brenda (Ken) Pontious, Corinne (Ron) Garland, son, Randy Woodward; grandchildren, Brent (Valerie), Craig (Stephanie), Trent (Melissa), Jodi (Andrew), Paul, Ashlie, Lindsay, Hallie, Mason; great-grandchildren, Mariah, Anna, Olyvia, Alyssa, Matthew, Brooklyn, Landri, Miles, Avianna, Tatum, Elle, and Beckett; brothers, Bill (Ellen) Woodward, Ron Woodward, sister Barbara Woodward. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Glenn Lemle. Loyal grew up in Toledo, Ohio graduating from Woodward High School. He enlisted, and spent 8 years in the Navy Reserves while continuing his education, completing a four-year apprenticeship program in the sheet metal trade. He later advanced his education at Owens Community College in the police academy training. He had a diversified career as a sheet metal journeyman for Dana Corporation, an auxiliary police officer in Sylvania, Ohio and further expanded his police work in Washington Township, Ohio retiring as Chief of Police. The last 13 years of his career before retiring in 1997 were spent at General Motors in the education and training department teaching in his trade. He was on several Board of Directors, apprenticeship council and volunteered in his communities, most recently as the Harbor Master of Country Club Estates in Venice, Florida where he and his wife resided after retiring. His life will be remembered as one lived well. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Alzheimer's Association or TideWell Hospice. Service Information
