Ludella L. David (August 4, 1935-December 15, 2016) passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2016 while in the care of Tidewell Hospice of Venice. She was born in Concord, DE, the daughter of the late Mildred and Francis Lewis. Ludella and her husband, Donald relocated to Venice from Smyrna, DE in December 1999. She is survived by her husband, Donald L. David of Venice, FL; her 3 daughters, Linda Hagauer of Peachtree City, GA; Susan Coté of Coconut Grove, FL, and Nancy McCluskey of Encinitas, CA and their spouses, Richard Hagauer, Kevin Coté & Brian McCluskey, and grandchildren, Richard Hagauer II and Kristina Hagauer. Also survived by her siblings: Byron Lewis of Bridgeville, DE, Beverly Dalton of Shelton, CT and Filbert Lewis of Chatsworth, GA. Ludella attended University of Delaware where she received a BS Degree in Elementary Education. She went on to receive a Master's Degree in Education from Salisbury University in MD. ""Lu"" started her career as a private kindergarten teacher with the Asbury Methodist Church in Smyrna, DE. When the Smyrna School District added kindergarten to their curriculum, they chose Ludella to be one of their first kindergarten teachers. After teaching in the public school system for 20 years, Lu spent 2 years as principal of the Smyrna Kindergarten Center. A visitation will be held at Farley Funeral Home located at 265 S. Nokomis Avenue, Venice, FL on Friday, December 23, 2016 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM followed by a service. Donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice of Venice, FL or to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation (MGFA), www.myasthenia.org.
