Marie Barton

Marie Dennis Barton, 90, a longtime resident of Venice, Florida, passed away after a short illness on April 20, 2017. She was born June 18, 1926 in Morristown, NJ to Harry Sutphen Dennis and Dorothy Ann Van Vliet. Marie grew up in Mountain Lakes NJ, and graduated from Mountain Lakes High School in 1944. She married DC ""Buzz"" Barton formerly of Boonton, NJ in 1949. They lived and raised 3 children in Mountain Lakes New Jersey, prior to moving to Florida. Marie was the first Mountain Lakes Police School Crossing Guard and performed that function for many years before becoming a secretary in the Guidance Department of Mountain Lakes High School retiring in the late 1980's. Both Marie and Buzz loved Mountain Lakes and were very active in the community. Marie and Buzz retired to Venice Florida in 1991, where they recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. Marie was predeceased by her husband Buzz, who passed away in September of 2016 at the age of 91. Marie is survived by her 3 Children: Suzanne McCrae of Venice, Florida; Debra Sacco (Wayne) of Senoia, Georgia and Clifford Barton (Ann) of Boonton Township, NJ; 7 grandchildren, and 8 Great grandchildren. Marie's favorite pastimes were family, traveling (especially trips to Hawaii), crafting, spending time with friends, and attending the Mountain Lakes Fire Department Dinner Dance. She is remembered as a wonderful friend, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
