Marie Elizabeth Bauer

Marie Elizabeth Bauer, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grand mother passed away at the age of 91 on October 3rd at her home in Osprey, FL. She will be greatly missed by her husband of 60 years, Theodore A. Bauer, her surviving brother, Robert Kenny, her 8 children and their respective spouses: Steven & Juliett Bauer, Joan & Frank Murach, Susan & William Huyck, Catherine Hassinger, Maryann & Kevin Barrett, Laura & Daniel Wheeler, Linda Bauer, and Sharon & John Bauckman, her 23 grandchildren: Kevin, Maria, Anthony and Emily Bauer, Christoper, Peter and Megan Murach, James and Sarah Huyck, Brian Hassinger, Joshua, Christian, and Gabriel Barrett, Tiffaney and Christina Bauer, Jen Ceresa, Daniel, Matthew, Kate and Elizabeth Bauckman, and her 10 great-grand children. She was preceded in death by her elder brother, Harry James Kenny, Jr. her grand-daughter Ellen Hassinger, and her great grand-daughter Julianna Murach and her grandson Peter Hassinger. Marie was born on June 13, 1925 in Glen Ridge NJ to Harry James Kenny and Ethel McClow. After growing up in Glen Ridge, NJ, she received a BA from Caldwell College, Caldwell, NJ and then continued her studies at New York's Fordham University where she earned a MA in Philosophy. Prior to her marriage in 1956, Marie worked as a first grade teacher and proudly volunteered at the Dorothy Day House of Hospitality in New York City. Marie enjoyed being a Eucharistic minister and CCD teacher at her local parish in Redding, CT. She was an avid tennis player, quilter, and was known for baking and selling her homemade breads. Marie also enjoyed antiques and decorating her country home in Redding, Connecticut where she lived with her family for almost 30 years before moving to Florida in 2002. A mass will take place at 10:00 am on October 10 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Osprey, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
