Mario Lorini

Mario Lorini, 86, of Venice, formerly of Weston, Mass., died Friday, November 25, 2011. Born in Isola del Liri, Italy in 1924, Mr. Lorini emigrated to the United States in 1949, after marrying Maryanna Lorini (nee Cacace) of Waltham, Mass., who preceded him in death in 2007. He earned a bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering from Northeastern University, Boston, Mass. and worked for the Raytheon Corp. in Waltham, Mass. for more than 30 years, retiring in 1993. However, Mr. Lorini said the most meaningful and important work of his life was caring for his beloved wife Maryanna during the final three years of her life. Mr. Lorini was an avid and prolific gardener, growing a wide variety of flowers and vegetables, both in Massachusetts and at his new home in Florida. He also took pleasure in creating sculptures in cement. Mary of these pieces adorn his Florida residence. He is survived by his twin sons, Anthony Lorini of Punta Gorda, and his wife Patricia and Lewis Lorini of Bradenton, his wife Donna Hartman, as well as three grandchildren including: Katherine and Elizabeth, daughters of Anthony, and Nicholas, son of Lewis. He is also survived by his sister, Ginetta Venditti of France.
