Marion Elizabeth Dreher

Marion Elizabeth Dreher, 90, of Englewood, FL, died on February 22, 2012. She was born in Paterson, NJ to Robert and Marion Tryon and resided in Hawthorne, NJ for 70 years until relocating to Florida in 1998. Graduated from Hawthorne High School, Paterson General Hospital School of Nursing in 1941 and was employed for many years as a public health nurse and school nurse in Hawthorne, NJ until her retirement in 1987. Marion was a member of St. Clement’s Church in NJ and in many volunteer activities throughout her life. Most recently she worshiped at St. David’s Episcopal Church in Englewood where she was very involved as a thrift shop volunteer and a member of the Episcopal Church Women. She loved to sing and was a member of the choir. Marion was a sports enthusiast and loved watching her grandchildren in various high school activities. In her later years she loved to read and was an avid fan of professional tennis. On the occasion of her 90th birthday, she was surrounded by her family at a celebration in Washington, DC. She is survived by her children, Joan E. Manley of Englewood, FL and John J. Dreher of Bloomfield, NJ; her grandchildren, Erik Manley of Sun Prairie, WI, Mark Manley and Matthew Manley of Washington, DC, Dana Cook of Arlington, VA; and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph J. Dreher, a brother, Harold Tryon, and a son, Robert Dreher.
