Mary-Beth Orben

Mary-Beth Orben, age 83, of N. Englewood, FL, passed away on November 15, 2017. She was born in Short Hills, NJ to Lt. Col. E.B. Ward, US Army Air Force, Ret. and Helen (nee Shoyer) Ward on October 1, 1934. Mary-Beth graduated from Millburn High School as did her husband of 63 years, Win. The high school sweethearts married on July 24, 1954. Mary-Beth was a Vice President and Branch Manager for Chatham Trust Company, retiring in 1994. Upon retirement, Mary-Beth and Win moved to Florida where they enjoyed time spent with friends and family. Win and Mary-Beth shared a love of travel and were able to visit lovely destinations aboard several cruise ships. Summers were spent at the Orben Family Cottage in Charlotte, Vermont on Lake Champlain. The two were also members of Rotary International and co-ushers at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Venice for many years. Mary-Beth was an avid tennis player and played competetively over the years at both the Chatham Fish and Game Club and here at Boca Royale, Englewood. A consumate reader, Mary-Beth also enjoyed crossword puzzles as well as singing in church choirs as a young adult and at St. Paul’s Episopal Church in Chatham, NJ. Mary-Beth will also be remembered as a devoted Penn State football fan (her husband’s alma mater); watching or listening to every game on radio, TV or in person. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Mary-Beth is survived by her husband , W.W. ""Win"" Orben, of Englewood; sons Charles Orben (wife Theresa) of NJ and Ken Orben (wife Tina) of FL; daughter Carolyn Orben (husband Bruce Uvanni) of Vermont; grandchildren Andrew, Kenneth and Jake Orben, and Colleen, Bridget, and Michaela Kiley; and brother Joe Ward of CT. She was preceded in death by her sister, Jean-Anne Ward Bailey and her husband Joseph Bailey of Englewood, FL. A memorial service will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Venice at a later date.
