Mary Kathryn Heusel

Mary Kathryn Heusel died peacefully on October 7, 2013, at TideWell Hospice in Venice. She was 93. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bob, in 1986. ""Katie"" grew up in Detroit and attended the University of Michigan, majoring in Dental Hygiene. She and Bob, who had a 39-year career with the Fisher Body Division of General Motors, were married in 1940 and lived in Detroit, Flint, Columbus, Syracuse and Cleveland prior to retiring to St. Petersburg and ultimately settling in Nokomis in 1983. Survivors include her son Jim and daughter-in-law Barb Heusel of Madison, Alabama, and her daughter Mary and son-in-law Mike Horlick of Venice. Katie is also survived by her incredible grandchildren John (Teri) Heusel of Alabama, James Heusel of Colorado, Dave (Shani) Horlick of Maryland and Michael (Liz) Horlick of Maryland, as well as her special great grandchildren Trenton and Mary Kathryn of Alabama, DJ of Georgia and Arcadia of Maryland. Katie was a such a loving part of the lives of her family and friends, and she will be greatly missed by all. A family burial at Venice Memorial Gardens will be private.
