Mary Beth Mac Millan passed away on December 18, 2016 after a brief illness. She was born in Marion Ohio, and raised in St. Joseph, Michigan. Mary Beth graduated from St. Joseph High School and received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Michigan State University. Upon graduation she moved to Chicago where she joined Lord and Taylor. She later moved to Minneapolis where she managed several specialty retailing stores. Mary Beth changed her career to banking where she held management positions for various banks in Minnesota and New Jersey. Mary Beth met her husband Bill on a blind date. They eloped while on a ski trip in Lake Tahoe three years later. She and Bill have owned a home on Big McKenzie Lake near Spooner Wisconsin for over 33 years. Since their retirement in 2002 they have divided their time between Wisconsin and Calusa Lakes, Nokomis Florida. Mary Beth was known as MB to many of her friends around the country. She was quick to laugh and had a warm and engaging personality. She will be missed by her Florida and Wisconsin friends. She was an animal lover, especially dogs. She was a volunteer and supporter of several animal adoption and health care organizations . Mary Beth is survived by her husband of 31 years, Bill, the love of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Virginia Garfield. Mary Beth is also survived by her sister, Pamela Spica (James), her brother-in-law Jim Mac Millan (Jean) , her cousins Brent and Hal Tozzer, nephews Michael Spica (Amber), Jamie Mac Millan, Jeff Mac Millan (Julie), niece Melissa Spica and two grand nieces Lauren Spica, and Whitney Mac Millan. She is also survived by her beloved rescue dog Roxy. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am om Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Venice and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her memory to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 790 S. Tamiami Trail on the Isle of Venice, Florida, 34285, or the Humane Society of Sarasota County, 2331 15th St., Sarasota, Florida, 34237.
