Michael James Bruet
Oct 17, 1940 — Sep 26, 2016
Michael James Bruet, 75, of Venice, Florida, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2016 after a four year battle with leukemia. Mike was born in Binghamton, New York on October 17, 1940 to James and Joan Bruet, who predecease him. Mike began his career at the NYSDOT in Binghamton and later moved to Syracuse, NY. In 1980, Mike relocated to Naples, Florida, where he began an illustrious career with Collier Enterprises in the division of land development and real estate. He also enjoyed working as a general contractor for many years in the Naples area. Upon retirement, he and his wife Kathy moved to Harbor Island, South Carolina, where they built one of their many dream homes together. After a year or two in the SC area, Mike and Kathy decided to move back to southwest Florida. There was nothing that Mike enjoyed more than sitting on his lanai, watching his beloved Atlanta Braves and rooting for his ""hometown"" Syracuse University Orange. Mike will be greatly missed by his love Kathy, whom he loved unconditionally. Mike is survived his children Stephen (Lisa) and Matthew, who will miss him dearly; his siblings Marie (Jerry) Jones, Dan (MaryAnn) Bruet, Marty (Patty) Bruet, Betsy (John) Foley, and Chuck (Ann) Bruet. He is also survived by his in-laws Stephen and Katie Chaleff, Karen and Ron MacLaughlin, Margie Camden and Sue Camden. Uncle Mike is also survived by his beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Chu, Dr. Shah, and the many devoted doctors at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel, 1301 Center Road, Venice, Florida 34292. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (www.lls.org). Service Information
