Michael Tarapacky

Michael was born on January 9, 1921 in Vyshenka, Ukraine, where he spent his childhood. He received his middle education in Przemysl, now Poland, during the German occupation. After graduation, he was admitted to study mechanical engineering at the Polytechnicum of Lviv, Ukraine. His studies were interrupted by the World War II fighting between Germany and the Soviet Union. Michael fled and settled in Munich, Germany, where he was liberated by the Allied Forces. He continued his engineering studies and eventually received a Bachelor of Engineering Diploma. In 1950 he immigrated to the United States and settled in New Jersey. Soon, he found gainful engineering employment in various American companies. In 1978, already 57, Michael married Oksana Pytlar, who had two sons from her first marriage. Michael retired from his engineering career in 1987. He and Oksana finally built a house and settled in Warm Mineral Springs, Florida. Upon his departure, at age 95, Michael leaves wife Oksana, her sons, Andrew (Mary) Pytlar and Anatol (Tracy), and Oksana's grandsons Tony, Alexander, and Michael Pytlar. He also leaves many of his younger relatives, still living in Ukraine. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 10th from 4-6PM with a Panakhyda at 6PM at Farley Funeral Home, North Port Chapel. A Funeral Divine Liturgy will be held at 10AM on Wednesday, May 11th at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in North Port, followed by entombment at Venice Memorial Gardens.
