Norma Paull Powers
Mar 8, 1925 — Mar 23, 2017
Norma Paull Powers, 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday March 23, 2017 in Englewood, Florida.
Norma Gavini was born March 8, 1925 on Louks Hill in Leckrone, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Raffaelo and Giovanna (Puglisi) Gavini and sister to Giuseppe (Joseph), who died in 2013 at the age of 95. All three had emigrated to the US from Italy in 1921.
Norma was a 1943 graduate of Chaney High School and went on to work at Strouss Department Store.
On June 12, 1948, she married John Henry Paull and together they had four children: Monica, Deborah, David and Kenneth who are proud to have been raised on the west side of Youngstown. In 1980 the couple moved to Venice, Florida.
Norma stayed in Venice after John's peaceful passing in November 1985 and in October of 1990 married David Powers of Youngstown. They continued to make a home in Youngstown and Venice until David's passing in 2010 at the age of 94.
Norma was a devoted wife and mother who was generous with her hugs and her help and provided an unwavering sense of security and âhome' to her children throughout their lives. She will be sorely missed by her family, friends and acquaintances who were always greeted with a smile and âthank you' for any small kindness they might show her.
Norma leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Monica (Raymond) Becket, Deborah (George Barnes) Paull, two sons, David (Noel) Paull, Kenneth Paull and a stepson, David C. Powers. She also leaves five grandchildren, Major Natalie Paull (U.S.A.F.), Dr. Jessica (Dave Bitzer) Paull, Emma (Jeffrey P.) Becket, Joshua Becket, Zachary Paull and two great-grandchildren, Wyatt Zachary Becket, and Alice Grace Paull-Bitzer.
Arrangements are by Farley Funeral Home in Venice, Florida. A mass of Christian burial will take place at 11:00AM on Saturday April 1st at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Venice.
