Orest Bayuk, age 89, of Englewood, Florida, passed away on January 15, 2017. He was born on May 31, 1927 in Katowitz, Poland to ethnic Ukrainian parents, Marta Bosatzka and Stepan Bayuk. He was taken by the Germans at the age of 14 as a translator never to see his parents again. Years later, he immigrated to the U.S. Orest is survived by his second wife, Katerina Bayuk; his two daughters (From his first and deceased wife Tatiana Bayuk) Joanna (and her husband Andrei Prisiajniouk) and Larissa Bayuk; his nephew, Mykola Kvacniy (and his wife Olga and his children, Ivan and Tanya and family); his niece, Marta Vovchasta (and her husband Igor with their son Kindrat). Orest Bayuk is a honorable World War II veteran serving in the US Army, receiving the Korean Service Medal and United Nations Medal. He worked at the City of Chicago as a microbiologist and retired to Englewood, Florida. A visitation will be held at Farley Funeral Home in North Port on Friday, January 20, 2017 from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM with a Panachyda service to follow. A graveside service will be held at St. Lucas Cemetery in Chicago, Illinois. Visitation Information
