Patricia “Patsy” Parker, 79, died peacefully in her sleep on February 26, 2014, at her home in Venice Florida. She was born March 4, 1934 in Perry, Florida.
Patsy was a third generation native Floridian, growing up in Gainesville, Florida where she attended Gainesville High School and served as a varsity cheerleader. Patsy met her husband Jim at the University of Florida. She was a member of the Chi Omega sorority while studying fashion and interior design. She and Jim were married in Gainesville in 1955. She was a talented artist and interior designer. She enjoyed gardening, golf, bowling, bridge and mahjong, and remained active in these hobbies until shortly before her passing. Patsy and Jim were members of Englewood United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband James F. Parker of Venice, Florida, daughter Kimbel Orr and son in law Charles Orr of Tallahassee, Florida, son James F. Parker Jr. and daughter in law Malinda Parker of Atlanta, Georgia, and daughter Jan O’Rourke of Venice Florida. Patsy is also survived by her four grandsons Phillip Orr, Reilly Orr, James Parker III, and Robert Parker, and her two granddaughters Olivia Lewis and Jennifer O’Rourke. She is predeceased by her mother Mrs. Agnes McLean and her brother Morgan McLean, both of Gainesville, Florida.
The family will receive friends at Farley Funeral Home in Venice, Florida on Saturday, March 1st, 2014 from 2 - 3 pm followed by a service at the Farley Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at Venice Memorial Gardens.
Patsy’s memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her. Visitation Information
