Patrick Brian Johnson

Patrick Johnson was 60 years old when he died suddenly of a heart attack. Those who loved him will always remember him – as a happy, caring presence in our lives. Patrick was born in Saginaw, Michigan, in 1966 to William (Bill) Johnson and Ruth M. Johnson.

He loved music and played his guitar, he followed and supported local bands from Tampa to Sarasota. Patrick received All-American honors in tennis in high school at Douglas MacArthur High School in Saginaw. He repeated this achievement at the college level, earning All-American honors in 1988 at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. The “All American” title is awarded to an amateur competitor selected for an elite honorary team representing the best player in the United States in their sport. It is highly prestigious and transcends local or regional awards for the top high school and college players in the U.S.

In 1988, Patrick contributed to Rollins College's success in the NCAA Tournament and the Sunshine State Tennis Conference Championship. After graduating, Patrick went to school in Chicago to obtain his insurance license. He later returned to Florida to join his father at Insurance Services of Sarasota, where he lived in Venice during this period. He explored other career opportunities in California and Manatee County and moved to the Bradenton area. He is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Honoring Patrick’s wishes, a cremation has taken place, and his ashes will be placed with his parents at the Oakwood Memorial Mausoleum, 5960 Gratiot Road, Saginaw, Michigan 48638. A private family service will take place at a time and date to be determined.

He is survived by his brothers William (Bill) Johnson and Bruce Klein; his sisters Carol Masone and Susan Benaway and her partner, Ken Lambert; and his sisters-in-law Xenny Johnson, Margaret Jean Cannon, and Mary Klein. His older brother, Michael Klein, passed away on July 11, 2015.

He is now and always will be missed by his relatives and friends.
